Pre-TOEFL Reading, Summary (L. 43)

Summary
The world-wide influence of American culture   # The word is not in the passage.
Americans were concerned about foreign influences on their culture in the past, but now Europeans are worried about too much influence of American culture. The British are s               ingly the most s                       e about it as the United States a               s f   r most of the books in English and even British a              s are first published in American English. Critics think American culture has n               e e          s on British teenagers through media, oblivious of the fact that many of the words they use in their criticism are also from America. It is i             l that America has taken over the notoriety of Paris as the center of depravity. Americans who are i                   e to these blames are returning a h                l c                     t, indifferent to other countries, and are #p           d of having the advantage of being the melting pot of many different c                 l traditions.
