Secondary schools are junior
high school and high school. Usually, all students are required to study art and
music in junior high school, while in high school, they are elective courses.
Why do you think so?

growing, and they should be given opportunities to receive this education.
美術や音楽は生徒の精神を育てる。知的活動の様々な可能性に向かって目を開かせ、感受性を発達させ、生きる理由を与える。これらの経験は他の科目を学ぶ動機づけになり、深く学ぶことを助ける。中等学校生は成長中なのでこの教育の機会を与えられるべき。

as much as possible. Those who had no interest in art and music in primary
school may do in secondary school. The school should provide opportunities to experience
the finest pieces humans make at low cost when one is ready to appreciate them.
自分の世界拡大の機会を与えられるべき。小学校で芸術に興味がなくても中等学校で興味を持つかもしれない。鑑賞する心の準備ができた時に、人間が作る最良の作品を低コストで経験する機会を学校は提供すべき。

Art and music should be optional in secondary school. The basics of art
and music are taught at primary school, and students already know their
aptitudes. They can decide whether taking these subjects will benefit them or
not. Both art and music are for the joy of life, and it is putting the cart
before the horse to force students to learn them. Therefore, they should have
the right to choose.
選択科目にすべき。小学校で基礎を学習し、向き不向きは分かっている。自分の利益になるかどうか自分で決められる。芸術は人生の楽しみの為であり強制するのは本末転倒。従って選択の権利があるべき。
