Parents can be good teachers. Are they the best? Are they better than professional teachers, adult relatives, or friends? Does teaching mean only teaching subjects or teaching things related to life in general?

1.     Parents know the best ways to teach their children, and they are the most serious about their children’s future.

【Counterargument-treatment】In terms of academic knowledge, most parents do not have enough time to teach it. Also, not all parents know enough knowledge to teach subjects to children.

【導入＝概要】以下の理由から親が良い最も教師だという意見に賛成だ。

【Supporting Details】Parents have seen their children since they were born, so they know things like what their children have already learned or how they should motivate their children. When a child is learning about faults, for example, the parent can mention a fault they have seen together during a trip. When a child is studying adding, the parent can make the study fun by making extra questions using the child’s favorite things like dinosaurs or trains.

【Conclusion】Therefore, parents are the best tutors.

【主張】教えることは学習を支えることだ。そして親は他のどんな大人よりも自分の子供にそれをするのがうまい。

【Supporting Details】For example, parents teach their children how to communicate with others, manners, rules, and many other things that are necessary to live in society. They also tell their children about their experiences and family history, which will enhance their children’s ability to learn as well as becoming precious knowledge. These things are not taught at school and are more important than school subjects.

【Conclusion】Therefore, parents help their children learn better than school teachers in general.

【Main Idea】Parents play different roles from those of teachers in raising children.

【Supporting Details】Their love, which is the most precious thing to their children, often becomes an obstacle to teaching. Some teachers confess that they do not teach their children the subjects that they teach at school because they are afraid of becoming emotional. It is natural for parents to be upset when their children are not doing well because a parent is not only a coach but also a fan. A fan vicariously shares the ups and downs of the feelings of the person he or she is cheering for, and it is very often the presence of such fans that encourages a person to do better.

【Conclusion】Parents’ role is to love their children, not to stay calm and give proper directions all the time, which is the teacher’s job and is not the most important thing in a child’s life.

【主張】子育てにおいて親は教師の役割とは異なる役割を果たす。
