Learning about history is as important as learning about the problems we face in today’s society.

A.    Warm-up Game   Historical Events

Name as many historical events as you can.  Example: Meiji Restoration, WWII, etc.

B.    Step 1 Composition

☆  ～ so that … 「…するように～する」 （～, so that … 「～なので…」との違いに注意しましょう。）

1.      私たちが人類や世界に興味をもつようにするために大人は私たちに歴史を勉強させる。

                                                                                               

                                                                                               

2.      現代社会が分かるために歴史的知識が必要だ。例えば日本中に多くの米軍基地がある理由を理解するためには地政学的歴史の知識が必須だ。

3.    As is often said, history repeats itself, so we need to learn history so that we may learn from past mistakes. Above all, to prevent the ruling class from running wild, the public must pass down and learn correct history.

4.    We need to focus more on current issues so that we can find solutions to pressing matters that are more imperative than acquiring general knowledge about the past.

5.    There are new types of problems like nuclear disarmament or applications of AI or genetic recombination technology whose solutions cannot necessarily be found in history books.

6.    History books are about the history of rulers in general and the contents are sometimes distorted, so they do not necessarily accurately reflect society and humans.
